Observations

As I was standing in front of the door of cargo bay two, I felt myself reluctant to go in. I suddenly remembered an incident that had occurred a couple of days ago.

I was walking toward this same cargo bay to pick up some test tubes for an experiment I was running, when I spotted Captain Janeway and that Borg, Seven of Nine, walking in front of me.

They were talking silently as if not wanting to be heard and then the Captain lifted her hand to cup Seven's cheek, and I swear, it was almost intimate, even for Janeway, who's never afraid to invade ones personal space.
But there was more, there was that little tilt of the head the Borg made, as if to get closer, to welcome the gesture. Then they disappeared in the cargo bay, together.

I was almost inclined to follow them in, since I had to be there anyway, but I didn't feel like I was ready to see what was going on in there. So I went back to the biolab and forgot about it.

But after all, I still needed those test tubes, so here I was again. I sighed, and went in.
Seven of Nine was regenerating in her alcove and the Captain was nowhere to be seen. I hate walking in here when Seven is regenerating, it feels like I'm invading her privacy. I don't like the Borg at the best of times, but I do wish they would give the girl some quarters. If only to ease my own conscience. Does she notice me when I walk here? Does she know?

Anyway, I noticed the barrel with the test tubes had fallen over and the little containers were scattered all over the place. I crawled around picking them up when I heard the doors slide. I looked up and saw the Captain had entered. I was just about to make myself known, but then I noticed she was standing there, in front of the alcove, staring at the Borg.
I froze, amazed at what I was seeing. What on earth was she doing? She walked over to the alcove controls and keyed in some commands.

"Regeneration cycle not completed." The computer blipped.

"Kathryn" Seven of Nine said when she opened her eyes.

'Kathryn', mind you, not 'Captain'.

Then the Borg placed her hands on the Captain's shoulders and let her lift her off the dais. I rubbed my eyes and rubbed them again, but I was still seeing something I could not believe. Instead of breaking the contact when she touched ground, Seven slid her arms around the Captain's neck and they kissed!
I felt my blood flow to my cheeks and I held my breath. The Captain and the Borg were locked in a most intimate embrace, their bodies pressed closer together than one would deem possible. I wanted to avert my eyes, not be part of this, but I just couldn't. The passion seemed to radiate from them and for a moment I was scared they were going to make love right there in front of me.

When they finally broke off the kiss, the Captain said "I'm off duty, meet me in my quarters." The Borg nodded and Janeway left.

I could not believe my own senses. I was sitting there, mouth agape, not able to move a muscle, when I heard Seven say "Ensign Wildman."

I was so shocked, I lost my balance and knocked another cargo container over.

"Did you enjoy yourself?" she asked.

What was that, sarcasm? Sarcasm coming from the Borg?

I scraped myself off from the floor and started apologizing. Seven interrupted me. "You must never speak of this, not to anyone." She said, "The Captain made it clear that we could only have intimate relations if it stayed strictly confidential. Promise me you will not mention this incident to anyone."

"I promise, Seven, I promise."

"If you break your word I will have to terminate you." She added.

"Seven, I swear, I won't tell anyone", I stammered.

"Very well", she said and turned on her heel and left the cargo bay, no doubt on her way to the Captain's quarters.
