DIFFERENT TIMES

Captain James T. Kirk sat on the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise thinking over the event that could have changed his whole life.

Last night his dear friend Nyota Uhura came to his quarters and told him that she was in love with him. Not only that, but she was ready to give herself to him completely. Kirk had never been known for resisting a beautiful woman, but this time, he had. *I can't believe it, why have I thrown this away! Because Jim, we aren't ready to give up this unattached lifestyle...* At that moment he was knocked out of his reflections by the cool familiar voice of his head science officer.

"Captain we are picking up some anomalous readings from the second planet in the Quagos system. I believe we should send down an away team to take some readings, The scientists at Starfleet command will be vary interested in what our sensors are picking up. "

"What's going on down there Mr. Spock?"

"The scans are showing a shift in the planets temporal fields."

"Mr. Spock, if you think your up for it, you can head the away team."

Spock raised and curious eyebrow and responded, "I am always up to it."

"Gather your team and meet me in transporter room one, you have ten minutes." Kirk got up out of his chair and exited the bridge and made his way to the lift.

"Uhura, call replacements for yourself, Mr. Sulu, Mr. Chekov, and Ensign Ashmore. Tell her report to transporter room one," said Spock. "Sulu, Chekov your with me."

Sulu and Chekov waited for their replacements then got up and followed Spock off the bridge. Uhura got up as soon as Lieutenant Brightwater came to relieve her. As she headed down to the transporter room she couldn't help thinking of what Kirk told her the night before...Uhura had told James of her deep and undying love for him, but James was traverse to her feelings. He had just given her a well quoted verse on Starfleet protocol instead of telling the truth, whatever that may be. She had the feeling he loved another, but who? As the lift stopped, she hoped this mission would give her a much needed distraction.

"Captain."

"Yes, Mr. Kim?"

"Seven has just sent a message stating that there are some strange readings coming for the fourth planet in the Androxine system but, there's nothing on the sensors that indicate any problems."

"Mr. Kim please check your console", said Tuvok, the Vulcan chief of security.

"My console is fine, Tuvok," Harry said in a not too flattering tone.
"Enough Mr. Kim," said the compact auburn haired captain. " I'll go down to Astrometrics and see if this is worth investigating." And with that she gave a nod to her first officer and strolled to the turbo lift doors. Janeway paused outside of the doors of astrometrics to get her bearings straight. She had to do this because she had promised herself that she would no longer crowd the space of a certain 6 foot blonde borg beauty. *Ok Kathy we can do this... Just stand up and put on your best captain face. Oh, God! Why does she have to be so damned gorgeous?* She took a deep breath *Ok, we're ready,* and with that she went into the lab.

Seven of Nine was aware of Janeway's presence but, made no attempt to recognize the small, yet, commanding woman. Ever since Janeway started gallivanting around with her holo-program Michael Sullivan, Seven wasn't too fond of spending time alone with the captain. After a few moments of discommoding silence, for Janeway, she finally decided to speak. "Seven? Those readings..." *I hate how she makes me speak first...*

"Yes Captain....?"Seven turned from her work station to face Janeway who was only centimeters away from her. *Dammit Katie you've failed! Well, I'm glad we did.. I can feel her heat..I refuse to believe I'm acting this way. I'm a captain and am never this obvious about anything.* "And that is what I have gathered from the sensors." Just then Janeway realized she hadn't heard a word the young borg had said. *Ok, Kathy recognizance time.*

"So, you believe this is worth the time to investigate?" Seven stared at the captains eyes and held a pad out in front of her chest and quirked and eyebrow. "Read this and next time.." She paused to look down on a bewildered Kathryn Janeway; and contemplated whether she should take her chance, and then in her precise borg tones said, "...listen to what I am telling you. My breast are not meant to be a distraction." Janeway turned deep crimson and hurried out of Astrometrics. Seven went back to her console and found herself smiling at Kathryn's ability to be, what Chakotay calls, 'an easy target'.

Janeway stood outside of Astrometrics feeling like she had been hit on the side of her head with a Klingon pain stick. *I can't believe I'm that obvious! Why, of all people, do I have a crush on an ex-borg drone?*

Janeway reviewed the pad Seven handed to her while walking to the bridge, she had decided this would be a worthy scientific mission. She couldn't help but be intrigued by what she came across. She stepped on the bridge and tapped her com badge and said, "All senior officers report to conference room one for a mission briefing."

In the short meeting they quickly discussed ships business and the away mission. Getting an away team together just as quickly, Janeway was in the transporter room ready to go find out what was causing the temporal and sub-spatial anomalies they were picking up on their scans.

"Mr. Spock...Uhura, Chekov, and I will go to the south end of the cave and take some scans, you and the others go to the northern end and give me a report when you are ready with your findings."

"Yes sir," said the Vulcan.

Uhura couldn't keep her concentration as she wandered into the southern most point of the cave. It was very large, about sixty to seventy kilometers high and at least thirty kilometers wide. Uhura found her mind wandering to the previous night with James once again.

"Uhura!?"

She snapped back into reality, "Yes Captain?"

"Take a look over there." Uhura turned in the direction Kirk had pointed in to see a stone gate etched out of the material composition of the cave. Chekov went ahead with his equipment and started to scan the area.

"I don't know what this is, it seems to be a tunnel or a portal of some kind. I can't understand these markings sir."

"Let me get a look at that Mr. Chekov." Kirk moved the smaller man aside and knelt next to the huge stone pillars looking for some sort of clue as to what it could be. Kirk pulled out his communication device "Mr. Spock."

"Spock here".

"We've found something very interesting here. I want to bring your team here and help us study something that we've found. Our location is about 30 meters from where we beamed down."

"Yes sir on my way."

"Uhura, you stay here and take scans for geothermal activity, Chekov and I will start back up the trail to rendezvous. We'll return shortly"

"Captain I don't think I should stay here alone.. "

Kirk was in a hurry to get to meet with the other team and hurriedly turned and walked away before hearing what Uhura said.

Uhura sighed *Now he's running from me..* and turned her back and went to the make shift work station and started her scans.

In the middle of her scans she noticed a pattern in the markings 2 -14 - 4 - 21 *What is this? I wonder..* She set her scanner to a rotating modulation and suddenly the portal opened up and started to pull her forward. Before she could even scream for help, she was sucked into the darkness of the unknown.

Janeway felt the transporter deposit her and her away team on top of a ridge not too far away from a large structure that looked to be about four stories in height and about a few miles in length.

"Captain. What is that?" Harry asked.

"I want to know, can we get any closer Seven?"

"No. this is the closest point we can hold."

"Why?" asked a curious Janeway.

"We might get caught in the tunnels..." Just then a deep cyan and purple swirl of light came from the tunnel throwing out some object they couldn't recognize.

"Captain, my tricorder scans show a life sign coming from that direction."

Then Ensign Kim went over and showed his readings to the captain.

"Seven and I are going to find that person. Kim, you stay here and have Voyager beam us out if we have any problems."

Seven and the Captain tracked over to the area where the person had landed.

"Seven you go search over on the northern side of the - "

"Captain," Seven interrupted, "I see something."

Janeway went over to where Seven had pointed out. The woman was of average height and had a heavier set frame. Her hair was in a high bun, but it was half down from her fall. Janeway put her two fingers on the woman's neck to find her pulse.

"She's alive but, my tricorder says she's bleeding internally and has several broken ribs."

"Captain this looks to be some type of time portal.."

"I noticed the old Starfleet issue uniform," Seven commented with a slight wonder in her voice.

Janeway tapped her com badge, "Voyager three to beam directly to sick bay."

Kirk paced around the bridge of the Enterprise spitting out orders. He was livid at the thought of losing his communications officer and his friend. It had been at least six months but, fire inside him kept burning and telling him to find her, the sense of guilt was overwhelming. How could he have left her alone, due to personal feeling? It was against everything that made him the captain he was. *I can't believe myself, first I break her heart and then lose her in some damned tunnel. Kirk you've gone and done it...It's been six months and no word, No I can't give up...

"Captain." Spock called him again and led him to his ready room. "Jim I'm sorry to be the one to inform you but.."

"I think I know," he said in a very somber tone. "Contact the last of the teams and the remaining vessels and tell them that Starfleet has called an end to our search." Then Kirk did something he never thought he' d ever do. James walked over to the Vulcan and cried in his arms.

"You humans are so illogical. I fail to see the comfort in being held by me, when Uhura is gone, none-the-less she will be remembered as a great crew member and friend." Then against all his years of training, Spock felt the need to hug this man back. Spock slowly wrapped his arms around James' hard body and hugged him back. Kirk never felt so comforted in his life. *This is hard, but Jim old boy, I think it just got a little easier.*

Uhura woke up under the bright white lights of Voyagers sick bay. She felt like she fell into a decompression chamber. " Welcome back." Came from and figure standing over her, he was bald and had a wiry frame. He sported the strangest uniform. It appeared to be a Starfleet issue but, was all black except for the blue band across his shoulders. "You were out for quite a while Ms. Uhura."

"Where am I and how do you know my name?" Uhura asked in a very tired voice.

"Geez, that's all I get? No thank you for saving my life oh, skilled surgeon...." He replied in a tone laced with sarcasm. Uhura sat up and looked around, this place was different from anything she had ever seen. By this time she was getting upset and ready for some answers.

"Well?! Tell me what you did with my communicator, I'm warning you, I'm with the Federation and we don't take kindly to people who steal technology!"

The doctor would have laughed until he cried if his matrix would allow it. He put his hand on Uhura's shoulder and said, "Don't worry, my captain is on the way, she'll explain everything."

Personal log - Nyota Uhura

Begin recording

It has been about a year since I landed here on Voyager and everything is going great. I have caught up on most of the changes that have gone on. The difference here is, prodigious. I love it here. I can't help but think of all the people and things I left behind... And James... But, that seems like a lifetime ago. The captain here on Voyager, Janeway is an amazing woman, she radiates authority and has the most amazing slate blue eyes. She has spent lots of time with me and we've grown close. I think I'm ready to take it to the next level but, I can't. I think, no, I know the only thing between her and I is Seven of Nine. I've seen the way she looks at my Katy... And besides that, Janeway has this self espoused celibacy because she doesn't want to be involved. I will get to her.

Personal log - Seven of Nine

Begin recording.

I have started keeping personal logs because Captain Janeway has often suggested it, now they are just a record of the progression of my love for her. I believe she has left the holo-program for Lt. Uhura. Kathryn has been spending more of her time with the Lieutenant and our velocity matches have been shortened ;some even canceled. Kathryn's body temperature rises and her heart rate increases when around Uhura, these are signs humans display when attracted to another. Previously this only happened when around myself and that Sullivan character. I believe I need a plan. I will research this later, so I alone can have Kathryn.

Janeway pranced around her quarters trying to figure out why there were two lovely and very naked officers sitting on her bed. "Captain..." Seven started, but was cut off by a promptly raised hand.

Janeway picked her head up and let her gaze set on Seven of Nines very beautiful and well developed body. "Seven why are you here? And why are you nude?"

"I am executing my plan to keep you from copulating with lieutenant Uhura."

"And you, Uhura?"

"I guess I was executing my plan to get you to sleep with me." she said mocking Seven.

Standing there in her room looking at two well endowed, voluptuous women, something dawned on Kathryn. *I want them both.* The other women were still sitting on the bed quietly waiting for Janeway to choose one of them as her lover, and making no effort to cover up.

"You can not decide. I will go." Seven stood up and started to walk away while Uhura beamed with a huge smile, feeling that Seven was out of the way and she alone would have Janeway.

Kathryn decided to speak " I..." ,her voice faltered "I want you both with me." Uhura and Seven looked at each other and then finally at Janeway when they realized what she had meant. Seven thought for a moment and moved over to Janeway and kissed her.

And with that the three woman's greatest dreams came true... Seven had the woman she loved, her mentor, her guidance, her Kathryn. Kathryn had two beautiful women who she deeply loved waiting to pleasure her all night , and Nyota Uhura had found her place in a different time.
