Under the steel

This is for hair like the setting sun
My heart aches for patience you never have won
Eyes betray nothing but under the steel
My soul is unlocked, the emotions too real
I see you each day yet I cry every night
In my alcove alone by the dimmest of light
With nothing I do shall this heartache appease
For loving you Kathryn’s the one thing I need
I never will have you and never will know
So I’ll die in this shadow by measures so slow
My breath comes in heartbeats – by twos and then three
A shackled existence, a painful reprieve
With eyes that are closed I see you in dreams
The moon lights your skin with a delicate beam
I touch you so softly, I pull you so close
Then my cycle’s completed – I’m left with a ghost
