Mika's Quickies #2

Kathryn and Seven were having a quiet meal in their quarters when the Captain's comm badge chirped.

"Chakotay to the Captain."

Janeway tapped her badge and returned the hail. "This is the Captain, Chakotay."

"Pardon the interruption but there is something in engineering I think you'll want to see."

"On my way. Janeway out."

She rolled her eyes and threw her napkin on the table. Seven looked at her asking if dinner needed to be kept warm or not. Janeway thought a minute and suggested. "I could eat it cold. Just wrap it up and I'll finish it when I get back." She leaned over and kissed the top of the Borg's head then left for engineering.

Once she arrived, she noted a number of the staff had surrounded B'Elanna's office. They parted to make way for her. She felt a chill imparted by the group in attendance. Moving to the forefront she peered into the office. On a message board tacked to the wall behind the engineer's desk was what looked like a bumper sticker. The words sent an accompanying chill through the Captain, as well.

The sticker read succinctly, 'Have PMS and am half Klingon.'

Janeway pinched the bridge of her nose dreading the confrontation she knew was coming.

Suddenly, the months of languishing in despair, adrift from who she could be, and the nights of solitary weeping and wandering became a distant memory as she held the woman of her desires, realizing her secretly guarded hopes had come to fruition in this one overwhelming moment of wholeness.

Kathryn felt the tears from her love fall against her own cheek. She drew back to gaze up at her. Quietly, reverently, she whispered, "I know."

Seven of Nine to the captain."

"Go ahead Seven."

"Captain, report to Astrometrics."

"Seven can it wait?"

"I do not think so."

Captain Janeway reluctantly and slowly got out of her command chair and nodded to Chakotay that he had the bridge. She had had a long shift and on top of it was concerned that her Chief of Security was struggling with his pon farr.

Pon Farr, the mysterious rite of joining, unique to the Vulcans, was steeped in mystery and conjecture. To anyone's recollection, no one outside of Vulcan had ever witnessed the ritual or knew of the steps involved. However as Tuvok was nearing the time for his pon farr, curiosity was rampant among the senior staff as to what events would take place out here in deep space and what the ramifications might be. As the doors to the lab opened she realized her troubles were only just starting.

Standing on the upper deck in front of the large view screen was Tuvok, dressed in a polyester leisure suit, white patent leather shoes and large, black-rimmed sunglasses with rhinestones adorning them. Next to him was Vorik, wearing a tank top and seersucker bellbottom hip huggers, replete with platform shoes.

Kathryn's mouth dropped open as the doors hissed closed. Seven placed a high security lock out on the door and joined her captain.

"Captain, they arrived her moments ago and kept talking about some…gig...they had to perform. Captain, what is a…gig?"

Just then music began to play loudly throughout the lab. Cheering accompanied the music and both women looked quickly around to make sure they were alone with the other crewmen. The lights dimmed in the lab and the cheering grew in volume. Suddenly lights began to flash all around them and the music became deafening. Microphones appeared in Tuvok and Vorik's hands as the beat picked up.

Seven shouted at the Captain. "Captain, is this part of the pon farr I have heard about?"

Kathryn shrugged her shoulders. Shouting in return she said, "I don't know but if this is then I know why they keep it a secret."

Balloons from out of nowhere began to fall all around the lab and spotlights pegged the two Vulcans on the upper deck. Then joining a chorus of accompanying singers, they broke out in song.

"We are family. I have all my Vulcans with me. Hey, hey, hey. We are Family-"

Seven stood outside of the captain's suite pondering about whether or not to intrude. She felt strongly that she should confide in her captain but had already assessed what Janeway's arguments would be. She could not remember ever being this hesitant to confront the captain. But, she reasoned, no confrontation ever had this much personally invested.

Previously all other arguments were philosophical or of a difference in perspective. This however, dealt with matters of the heart, an area that was thus far unexplored by the Borg. Yet, even as she waited, the captain's doors slid open allowing the captain exit. Janeway was at top-notch speed already and they collided.

Down to the floor they fell with Seven breaking the captain's fall.

They looked at one another, suddenly very uncertain as to what had happened. Kathryn spoke first, exasperated at the tangle of their positions.

"Seven was there something you wanted to get off your chest?"

Seven's brow furrowed as she looked quizzically at her own chest, then up at Kathryn. A look of certainty flashed across the young Borg's face.

"Captain, I'd rather not." Seven then pulled Kathryn closer and kissed her unquestionably, and for the first time.

Mika's Quickie # 11

Kathryn had invited Seven to her quarters for dinner. Precisely on time, Seven arrived bearing flowers for the table setting. Kathryn graciously accepted them, replicating an appropriate vase. After dinner they settled on the couch and discussed tidbits of ship's gossip and new discoveries Seven had encountered.

Both of them seemed to be dancing around a holographic pink elephant with regards to feelings they were developing for one another.

During an awkward silence, Kathryn got up and went to the replicator. Requesting dessert for two, she returned to Seven's side.

"Have some cheesecake, Seven. Its on me."

Seven took hers and looked at it carefully. She then raked her nail over the top of it and drew her finger across Kathryn's lips.

"Now, it is on you." Then she leaned over to experience her first taste of the confection and of Kathryn's lips.

"Computer, locate Seven of Nine."

"Seven of Nine is in Holodeck one."

Captain Janeway, curiosity peaked, left her ready room heading for the holodeck. Upon her arrival, she entered her code for access but was thwarted by Borg encryptions. She exerted a command override and the doors hissed open.

Before her, wrapped in light fog, gauzy in full moonlight, was a beautiful Victorian styled gazebo overlooking a slow moving river. A silhouetted figure matching Seven's was leaning casually against one of the supporting posts. Kathryn fought to breathe against the rise of excitement she felt. She slowly walked toward the structure.

A silky voice called out to her as she neared.

"Good Evening Captain."

Thrill locked her vocal chords against responding, only allowing a coquettish smile to appear. She extended her hand and the Borg received it, guiding her to the interior of the gazebo.

Seven gently wrapped her arms around the stalwart captain, blocking any attempts for retreat. Janeway chuckled lightly.

Seven lifted Kathryn's face, her thumb and finger cradling the traditionalist woman's chin.

"What do you find amusing Kathryn?" She asked delivering a delicate kiss to her forehead.

"Well, here you are standing there loving me, whether or not you should. So somewhere in my youth or childhood, I must have done something good."

Seven tilted her head and whispered, "Indeed," as she gingerly kissed her wife.

Mika's Quickie # 12

Kathryn had found herself, once again, dealing with a peculiarly quirky species. Decorum had been a mainstay of her captaincy, but the Porcinicus' cultural habits were wearing thin and most certainly, she thought decorum, for her, was lost.

The Porcinicus were humanoid but their facial features reminded her more of the pigs at her farm in Indiana. Upon meeting them, she felt that surely she would be able to adjust to the features, but alas, it was not to be. Their Minister of Protocol had duly instructed her and her diplomatic entourage that snorting was considered mannerly and should be done with every sentence ending.

After almost choking on her last snort, she shot a glance at Seven, who seemed to be enjoying her self far too much.

Reserved and even constrained, the Borg seemed to have adapted quite well to the behavior, even managing to snort when a laugh bubbled from her. The captain glared at her then reached up to massage her own sinuses, wondering if they would ever be the same. Mischievously, she wondered what would happen if she called out, "SSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWEEEEEEEE, PIG!" A laugh erupted from her, punctuated by uncontrollable snorting. Relieved that she had expressed it in cultural appropriateness, she did not notice all who had turned to look at her. Summarily she was chastised. The Minister of Protocol rushed to her side and informed her that she would have to return to her ship, having bested their leaders with the quality of her snorting.

Mortified, she requested a beam out seeing the faces of her crew alight with hope for future tales. The quote, "Some pigs are more equal than others" came to mind as she shimmered into a thousand sparkles.

Mika's Quickie #16

As she viewed the motley crew before her she was twisted as to how to react. Janeway's crew in attendance was none other than B'Elanna, Naomi and, of course, Seven of Nine. They were dripping wet and soiling her carpet in the ready room.

Struggling not to become apart of this fiasco she shored up her command façade and began.

"Do you want to tell me about this?" She waved a limp hand in front of them.

Seven immediately, but stoically replied. "No."

Naomi gasped and B'Elanna bit back a smirk.

A twitch in the Captain's brow acknowledged dissatisfaction with that response.

"Perhaps you should, anyway." Raising her voice slightly she demanded. "Humor me."

Naomi had never been in trouble with the captain before and she was getting very nervous. Seven lovingly put a hand on the young girl's shoulder and proceeded.

"We were in the mess hall when Naomi over heard Lt. Paris talking of a 20th century game involving water balloons. Latex material containing water and sealed to avoid leakage…at least until they are launched at a target whereupon they explode releasing their contents on the victim.

Janeway scanned her crewmen. "Or victims in this case."

Seven nodded. "We, Naomi and I, decided that Lt Torres would be the best 'victim' for our experiment."

"I see, " said the captain.

B'Elanna jumped in. "That's right captain. As my honor was called on in this attack, it behooved me to retaliate." She stood proudly, trying to be convincing, but Janeway was no fool. It had been a long couple of months since any shore leave had been enjoyed and she knew that of all of her crew these three were most likely to vent there energies, even if inappropriately.

Janeway turned her back to them and leaned over, opening a drawer in her desk. Really, she thought, do they think they are the only ones who can cut loose around here?

As she remained bent over, she ordered a site-to-site transport of all four of them to the holodeck. The miscreants were shocked motionless, which is what Janeway needed to launch her surprise. As they were preoccupied with the forest setting, Kathryn had programmed, she strapped a reservoir to her back, pumped a large plastic gun, loading it with whatever was in the tank attached to her back and fired upon the unsuspecting lot. Then she leaned over again and tossed various items to her opponents. Each was now armed with various water projecting implements.

Janeway hollered over her shoulder as she took off, "There's more where that came from, crew." And then in a deep, gravelly voice she taunted them. "Avast ye scurvy lot, you'll never take me alive!"

Once the shock wore off, the three of them ran after their captain, laughing and dowsing each other as they ducked in and around the glen.

Mika's Quickie #17

"Just who is that?" Janeway asked.

Harry looked up from his control panel and just stared. On the view screen before them was a face belonging to a species they had yet to identify. Seven came onto the bridge just then and stopped when she saw everyone was looking at her.

"What?" she asked.

Janeway instructed her, "Tell us who this species is."

Seven looked forward and saw the species in question. "I do not know."

Janeway looked askance. "What do you mean?"

Seven exhaled impatiently. "Was I unclear? I have never seen this particular species before."

Kathryn was a might perturbed. "How is that possible? I thought the Borg had assimilated all the species in this sector."

Seven retorted. "The Borg must have missed this one or found them unremarkable…at least for their advances. Besides I never forget an assimilated face."

Mika's Quickie #18

For some reason, nothing she did today was turning out right and the last thing she was prepared to deal with was a Borg with a concrete sense of understanding. And she had just arrived on the bridge looking as though she wanted to talk.

As one more thing on the bridge went south Kathryn threw her hands up in the air and muttered, "Well, I never…"

Seven, quick to hear, followed her as she headed for the ready room. "Captain, I have been meaning to talk to you about that, because neither have I."

Highlands Uber

By Mika

The clans all gathered for the victory feast. A weaned calf had been slaughtered and was turning on the spit, young children ran around taking turns at the handle. The sun was just setting behind the hill and still the warriors came. One hundred had gathered to fight the mighty Saxons from taking their lands and their heritage.

As was traditional, women were counted among the warriors, deemed the fiercest of fighters. One of these proud women strode along the cart path, sore, tired and wounded. She longed to sit this night and drink her hurts numb.

Ahead, crossing the village yard was a fair redhead, the sunset lighting her hair to flames. She had a small cauldron in one hand and a selection of potatoes in a sack over her shoulder. She sensed her heart's mate and she stopped. Turning to look up the road, she saw her striding toward the village. Tall and blonde, her hair caught the breezes and whipped about her shoulders like a personal banner.

Dropping all she carried, she rushed out to greet her. Her approach was greeted with a broad smile as she was swept up into strong arms. The slight redhead kissed the grime from her warrior's face and spoke loving words.

Laughing at the display, the warrior exclaimed, "Aye, Cariad. I'm back, for sure. You are the treasure the devils will never get."

Laughing from sheer joy they returned arm-in-arm to the village and the much-deserved celebration.

Mika's Quickie # 21

Seven looked at Janeway, timing her sips of coffee. Had Kathryn not been up to her nacelles in reports, she would have felt the wave of mischief heading her way with Seven surfing the curl.

She noted that Kathryn once again had the cup in her hand poised to take another sip.

"Kathryn?"

Looking past her reports, Kathryn paused and glanced at her wife. "Uh hmm?"

"Why should you not play poker with a Vidian?"

Kathryn looked quizzically at her wife and took a sip while considering the question.

Seven interjected, "Because he always throws his hand in."

Coffee spewed everywhere and Seven sat back, very much like the Cheshire cat,

while she casually wiped stray spewage from her biosuit.

Now she had to think of a challenge for B'Elanna…

Mika's Quickie #22

Seven was feeling particularly agitated this evening. Earlier, Kathryn had gone to the doctor to ascertain the reason for her recent irritability. Though he was wont keep his confidences with his patients, the level of exasperation on the captain's face was enough to risk a hint.

"Well, it would seem that she now shares with the rest of the women on board, a periodic function."

Kathryn's eyes became wide. "You don't mean…?"

A raised eyebrow was her only answer.

So this evening, as Seven snapped at her once more, Kathryn decided to take matters into her own hands. Seven was sitting on the couch. Kathryn determined her approach and made her move.

Walking directly over to the Borg, she gruffly removed the padd she was working on and sat down facing her. Brusquely taking hold of the Borg's face, she planted a heart-stopping kiss on the full lips. Aggressively she rid Seven's hair of its pins, grabbing handfuls of the golden locks.

The kiss did not cease. In fact it intensified as Seven responded. Encouraging Kathryn to hold on with her legs, Seven stood and walked them to the bedroom.

Clothes were strewn about the room as their passion guided the actions of the evening.

Later, as they reveled in the afterglow, Seven asked, "Is this the 'medicine' for premenstrual syndrome?"

Kathryn smiled at her. Seven volleyed, "And I had heard that medicine was supposed to taste bad." Sending them both into silly giggles and a renewed but gentler exchange of passion.

Mika's Quickie #23

For the third time this shift, Janeway had entered engineering made a quick, very quick, run through of systems maintenance with B'Elanna and left. The whirlwind that was the captain was unnerving the chief.

"Carrey?"

LT. Carrey walked over. "Yes?"

"Have you noticed something strange about the captain?"

"You mean her pin point pupils, perspiration along her lip, and her rapid speech?"

B'Elanna eyed him sardonically. "Yes, damn it."

"I would assume she's been tinkering with the replicators again."

"Caffeine induced awareness?"

"Right."

B'Elanna tapped her combadge. "Seven."

"Seven, here Lt."

"Code black."

As the captain's need for caffeine was increasing, Seven and B'Elanna had worked out a procedure with the doctor on how to address the problem should it ever become critical.

Seven sighed audibly over the commlink.

"Very well, I will contact the doctor. B'Elanna, how is this possible? I have been monitoring her intake and she has not had more than her allotment."

"I'm not sure, but we've got to find her stash."

Days later, the captain fully recovered, the replicators were once again tracking the number of cups the captain requested. Access to the formula for chocolate covered coffee beans now blocked by Borg encryption codes.

Mika's Quickie #24

Quietly, Seven sat back enjoying the holoprogram Kathryn had written. The waves gently lapped against the shore and in the distance, seabirds could be heard squawking at one another.

As the young Borg appeared to be drifting off to sleep, Kathryn came running in from the sea, stopped above the sleeping beauty and shook herself…hard. Cool droplets of water rained all over Seven, awakening her abruptly.

Seven slowly, but certainly, opened her eyes and then stood up. She took Kathryn by the hand then surprisingly, slung the older woman over her shoulder.

Out into the water she walked.

When she reached a depth of waist high water, she hoisted Kathryn in the air above her head and unceremoniously threw her into the brink, the older woman screaming all the while.

Slowly, but certainly, Seven strolled back up to her chaise lounge and resumed her nap.

Mika's Quickie #30

Late one evening in the captain and Seven's bedroom...

"Kathryn." Seven nudged her partner.

"Kathryn, wake up."

"Hmmm?"

"Kathryn, there is a fly on the wall."

"Hmmm? Oh don't worry it's just the readers, darling. Now go to sleep."

"I cannot."

Kathryn turned over and looked impishly at Seven.

Using her most evocative timbre she answered, "I think I can remedy that."

Kathryn began tempestuously teasing. Seven responded approvingly.

Kathryn again teased, "But what of the fly?"

Seven felt Kathryn's hands move across her stomach and lower.

"What fly?" Seven growled.

"Indeed," Kathryn rasped.

Mika's Quickie #31

Tom was sauntering down the corridor en route to Sandrine's one evening.

Realizing the commands for the program had already been entered, he slipped into the holodeck as the doors hissed open.

But what to his wondering eyes should appear, but his beloved bar turned on its ear.

Women were everywhere, on everything: some recognizable, some were not.

Just then B'Elanna swerved by him, her arms enveloping a lithe, young woman as they danced a smooth step around the dance floor. His mouth swinging wide open like a door unhinged, he saw another familiar figure standing near the pool table. The figure turned toward him and in reaction, he immediately reached for the railing to steady himself.

The captain, dressed in jeans, a tank top, and square-toed boots tossed a wave in his direction, then turned to the object of her attentions.

At the opposite end of the table, Seven was lining up a bank shot. Her attire was even more astounding and Tom felt his knees give way.

Precariously restrained against a black leather vest, Seven's breasts were threatening to tip the balance of the game for the sake of sheer distraction. Tom's mouth suddenly was dryer than any known desert as he imagined Seven winked at him before she executed her shot. And then all was dark around him.

Later in sick bay...

"Doctor, how is he?" The captain asked sincerely.

The Doctor looked on his patient. The furrowed brow was understandable. No other man could have stood the sight before him.

Stretched out on the bed, was Tom Paris, not the man he used to be but alive nonetheless.

The doctor looked pensively at the captain. "You know you here about things like this but until you see them you just can't believe it's true." He paused. "I always thought it was just a myth that it could rupture...but alas, I can say indeed it is no myth."

Mika's Quickie #32

The captain paced furiously in the sick bay waiting for a report on the condition of her First Officer.

Seven watched Kathryn walk back and forth.

Then the doctor walked over to them.

"What is the diagnosis, Doctor?" Kathryn inquired, a worried expression deeply embedded across her brow.

"Captain, he is brain dead."

Seven's ocular implant shot high along her forehead. "How can you tell?" she honestly questioned.

Mika's Quickie #35

Seven was busy calculating some transwarp figures when little Gretchen came storming into the room, out of breath and thoroughly fuming. Angrily, she told Seven what was wrong.

Seven turned around just in time to see Erin come to a screeching halt at the door. Also panting, her cheeks a healthy pink from playing, Erin looked crestfallen seeing her older sister and one of her moms together.

Seven stood, resting her hands on her hips. Sternly, she told the younger tow-headed girl, "Erin Janeway Hansen! I have repeatedly told you…No threats of assimilation. Do you understand me?"

Erin, looking ever so downcast and disappointed, shuffled her feet back and forth across the floor.

"But, Mom!"

Seven merely responded, "Erin, you know resistance is futile."
