"A Gift"

by Nadir

Skin. I see the silver spider on your skin, moving along your arm. I want to
move along your body. Silver and gold.
I bring my lips to yours. In the dream, you move away. In the dream the
light is silver.
Time has moved the world.
You gave me a present. A poem, a locket, a painting. A gift. A gift of
yourself.
I look into your eyes as you put the dinner on the table, and I see a love
which burns there, a love which reflects what I wish I could show you.
Stars will explode in the sky, stars on your skin, I explode, the landscape
of your body.
I hold you to me, and I say, I wish. . .
And you look at me, more open than anyone has looked at me, my hand moves
across yours, my fingers trace the tracery on you.
You will give me puppies and poetry and flowers you do not understand.
You will give me time, you will give me youth, you will give me a body which
glows in the silver light of the stars.
But you will never give me more than yourself-
There is nothing more I could want.
Seven, I say, Annika.
You take my hand, which touches your arm, you bring it to your breast.
I will comply you say.
A smile A gift.. Yourself.
