The Tear of a Borg

A single tear rolled from their eye. A hand swept up and a finger wiped it away quickly. She placed the wet finger into her mouth as if to taste the regret, the pain she now saw in their eyes. She stepped forward, against her own better judgment and softly kissed the cheek where the solitary tear had fallen. She felt her own disappointment. The stirring in her heart hurt, but it was necessary. She knew that what she must do next would seal both their fates forever.

Taking one more look into their eyes before her, she turned and walked away, never looking back, as the door to cargo bay 2 hissed closed behind her. She knew that she would remember the taste of the tear forever.
