Flirt

Captain Kathryn Janeway did not like being an ambassador for the Federation; she preferred more to be aboard her ship and exploring the quadrants for new and different scientific discoveries. It just was not in her nature to court the next potential member of the Federation. She smiled at the Zimwabian who strived to indulge her in conversation on why their particular species would add yet another dimension to her world's already vastness. It was a point that she was highly skeptical of, but felt they at least deserved a chance.

"Captain Janeway, it will be good for the Federation to understand exactly how the Zimwabi have learned to co-exist with the…"

It was the hissing sound of the embassy door that first pulled her out of their conversation. For whatever reason Janeway felt compelled to see if it were a member of her crew. Attendance was a requirement of all senior staff this evening. A smile grew on her face as what stepped through the door caught her eye, causing her heart and her breath pause.

She glanced around the room as she entered uncomfortable with the idea of having to be there. B'Elanna Torres stood a few feet away talking to one of the Zimwabian diplomats.

"Didn't think you'd show." B'Elanna spoke as she approached her.

"What choice did we have?" Seven asked looking at the brunette.

"None. She's been keeping an eye on the door. I'm pretty sure she didn't think you'd show either."

"Really?" Seven questioned, looking around the room to find the woman who commanded their presence.

"She had quite the smile on her face when you stepped through that door a few moments ago, I might add." B'Elanna teased.

"Is that so? Perhaps she feels as if she has won," Seven smugly replied.

"Nooo… I don't think so. It had a different look to it," B'Elanna said.

"A different look."

"Yeah. Like she swooned. Like a leer. Like… she was really glad to see you. Or! Like… Wow! All of the above, Seven, all of the above."

"B'Elanna Torres you have had too much to drink," Seven spoke reverting her eyes back to Voyager's Chief of Engineering.

"I've had nothing to drink, Seven. I just walked in ahead of you. I swear."

"Why do you suppose she looked that way?" Seven questioned searching for motive.

"I don't know. Why don't you go ask her?" B'Elanna smiled quite interested herself in what it all meant.

"I do not believe it to be of any importance." Seven answered as she continued to look through the crowded hall.

"Well… it looked like it was."

"Explain?"

"Kahless Seven! You can be so dense at times. It looked to me that you are of great importance to her."

"Ah."

"What are you going to do about it?" B'Elanna inquired.

"Nothing."

"Nothing?"

"Nothing," Seven replied as she managed to finally catch a glimpse of their Captain. She made the decision as she finished her conversation with B'Elanna to keep an eye on the woman who took note of her arrival, for now.
