Cupid was a Vulcan

"I will escort her to sickbay."
Lieutenant Commander Tuvok , Vulcan Extraordinair, walked over to Seven of Nine, who was desperately clinging to the tactical console.

A few moments earlier she had wobbled onto the bridge, requesting, no commanding, that they turn the ship around immediately. The reason for this was illogical, to put it mildly. Seeing something twinkle off the port bow was hardly an uncommon occurrence.
Besides, Seven of Nine appeared to be in a state of...drunkenness. The doctor would need to detoxify her.

"You have the bridge, Ensign Kim," said Tuvok, offering his arm to Seven.
"Seven of Nine, you will follow me."

Seven struggled to get back on her feet, and somehow managed to get in an upright position. "Seven of Nine, former member of Tertiary Addictjunky, Dominatrix Zero-One reporting for duty, Sir!"

"Indeed." Tuvok placed his arm around Seven and guided her towards the turbolift.

Suddenly Seven stood still. In shock she exclaimed: "Where are your ears?!" To be followed by a heavy sigh of relief and: "No worries! I have detected them. They are still in place."

A moment later the turbolift doors closed behind them. Seven leaned heavily on Tuvok. "Hey!" she whispered in his re-detected ear. "Hey, I know something you do not know."

"Indeed." Tuvok was not interested. He was extremely worried about the fact that the otherwise intelligent and logical Seven was now a babbling airhead.

"I will not tell you. No, don't look at me like that, Tonic. I will not tell you."

Tuvok remained silent.

"Oh all right," Seven continued, "but it is a secret. So shhhh!"

"Now." She let go of Tuvok for a moment and tried to stand tall. "I, Seven of Whatever Whatever Something, am in love with the captain."

"Indeed," Tuvok was not impressed. The turbolift doors opened, so he once again put his arm around Seven and started walking.

"Do you think she knows?" Seven asked in a concerned tone. "I've kissed her, so she may suspect something. She is intelligent, you know."

"She is." Tuvok was glad that Sickbay was only a few more steps away. He was beginning to feel quite uncomfortable.

"Her lips are so soft...Did you know that Tic-Toc?"

"Yes." Damn the fact that Vulcans can't lie. Seven's current state would hopefully prevent her from remembering this conversation.

"And her...oops!" The doors to Sickbay opened. "Doctor!!! Did you miss me?"

Tuvok handed Seven over to the doctor and hastily made his retreat.

"It is unknown how she came in the possession of this alcoholic beverage," said Tuvok. He had made a full report on last night's incident and was now discussing it with the captain in her ready room.

Janeway frowned. "...Borg encryption codes?"

Impressed by this piece of technobabble, Tuvok typed the explanation into his data padd.

"The doctor has informed you of the reason she turned to liquor?"

"Yes, yes. The same old 'she's in love with you' nonsense."

"Do not dismiss this possibility," warned Tuvok. "You know by experience that it happens that humans get infatuated by their mentors."

"Tuvok..." The captain blushed. "That was different and you know it."

"This is different as well," Tuvok tried to tell himself that Vulcans do not blush, but this was without effect.

"How so?" Janeway avoided eye contact.

"Capthryn," Tuvok started, but then he abruptly stopped. "I...I believe it is best to continue this conversation at a later date."

"Yes..."

And once again Tuvok hastily made his retreat.

"SO..." said Chakotay while taking a sip of his herbal tea.

"So?" asked the captain.

"You and her, eh?"

"Me and...What?! Chakotay what are you on about?"

"It's a shipwide rumour. You kissed her!"

"Now first of all, Commander, Seven kissed me."
Hmmm, that was a little more than Janeway had wanted to make official.
Quickly she added: "And second of all, that is none of your business."

Chakotay did not seem to pay attention at all. "So what's she like?"

"Commander!" Janeway was getting angry. "I threw her out before anything could happen,so I wouldn't know. And if you can be so kind, I'd like to get some work done." She quickly took the cup of tea from Chakotays hand and placed it on the table. Then she grabbed Chakotay by the arm and shoved him through the door.

As the doors closed behind him, Chakotay blinked his eyes. How did this little woman always manage to do this to him?

"Please Tuvok," pleaded the captain. "I have to make it clear to Seven that she can't just go around kissing captains! You two share the belief that emotions can be approached logically. I need you there."

"I believe this is a subject that should be discussed in a private conversation," Tuvok replied, having no intention to get caught up in this emotionally tangled web.

"I agree, but you have experience in this type of conversation. And besides," Janeway insisted, "if I go in there alone, she'll end up kissing me."

Vulcans do not daydream! Vulcans do not fantasize! Vulcans do not imagine! "Indeed," said Tuvok.

"So you agree? Thank you. Now let's go."

As he meekly followed the captain into the waiting turbolift, Tuvok blinked his eyes. How did this little woman always manage to do this to him?

--------***

Seven pulled her shoulders back, took a deep breath and looked at the cargo bay wall. Tuvok and the captain had just entered the room and it was clear they wanted to discuss a serious subject.

"Seven of Nine," began Commander Tuvok, starting out on safe grounds. "You have consumed alcoholic beverages while on duty. I shall have to cancel your replicator rations for this month."

Seven looked at him. "Yes, sir," she said in an even, soft tone.
And then she tried to stop herself, but her eyes were drawn to the captain, who was staring right back at her.

Commander Tuvok continued. "Furthermore it has come to our understanding that you have developed romantic feelings for the captain. Is that correct?"

Seven swallowed. "Yes." She was still staring into Janeway's eyes and to her surprise the other woman did not even flinch.

"You are aware of the impossibility of a romantic involvement with the captain?"

Seven nodded. Once again the captain's presence seemed to fill the whole room. Regardless of the odd situation she was currently in, the familiar pleasurable sensations started in Seven's body.

"It would undermine her command." Tuvok turned around and looked at the captain as if to ask for her support.

"Yes it would," Janeway said as sternly as she could manage, while her mind began to wander. Sevens eyes! They were so intense! How come she had never noticed that before?

"And it would not benefit the ship's morale."

"No, it wouldn't." Goodness, Seven's lips...she could still feel them on her own.

"There would be accusations of favouritism."

"Definitely." The cold metal of the Borg implants against her neck....Janeway shivered.

"It would be against Starfleet regulations."

"Of course." What were they discussing again?

"And lastly the romantic feelings are not reciprocated," stated Tuvok.

Janeway felt dizzy. She was positively drowning in Seven's eyes and to her own dismay and joy she was not going to stop herself.

"As a result, I can conclude that it is illogical for you to pursue a relationship with the captain."

"Yes...Thank you, Tuvok," Janeway addressed him in a tone that would hopefully suggest that she was in control of the situation. "Can I speak to Seven alone now?"

"Very well." The tension in the cargo bay had gradually increased to a very uncomfortable level. Once again, Tuvok was relieved to make his hasty retreat.

"So Seven," said Janeway, taking a few slow steps closer to her. "You know what this means, don't you?"

"No, I do not," replied Seven, trying to keep her voice steady.

Taking a step closer still, Janeway was now in Seven's personal space again. Adrenaline was rushing through her body.

"You don't? Didn't you listen to Commander Tuvok?"

"No."

It was difficult to breathe. It was difficult to think. Janeway completely forgot what to do next.

"Call security," suggested Seven.

"I donHmmmm."
